For the Florida State University School, they have an elementary, middle and high school, and on their homepage, there are links to each of the three schools. From there, you can access individual grade levels, and even further into that, parents and students can access a specific teacher. On the teachers, home page, are different links and resources. For a specific fifth grade class, there is a welcome page, as well as class schedules, a link to their Google classroom and an informational page on the teacher. These are all side tabs that link to different pages, some include information regarding field trips, while others are tips and study hacks or websites the students can use. For parents, every weekly newsletter is posted so they can stay up to date with what the students are doing in the class. Overall, there is a lot of information for not just the students, but also the parents as well! Here is a link for Mr. Valdes' website: https://www.fsus.school/Domain/63
When I am a teacher, I can definitely see myself having a website and using it to post any information regarding the class. I will use it to post weekly updates regarding upcoming events going on in the classroom and at the school. I would also post due dates, when quizzes/tests are, as well as when any projects are. There would be a feature where there are different resources for students to use to study or review. Overall, I want my website to be another source of information for students and parents to turn to. In the end, I want parents to be able to be involved and informed on what is going on in class!
The technology sandbox was so neat to experience! What I found most interesting was the 3-D printer as well as the 3-D art pen. I never thought of all of the different possibilities that a 3-D printer could be used for. I always thought that 3-D printing was used for bigger projects, like in sciences or in the medical field. It turns out, 3-D printing is used for a wide variety of things that can be used in the day to day classroom. I got the opportunity to use the 3-D art pen, which was so cool! I enjoyed it so I can only imagine how elementary aged students would feel getting to use it in the classroom. The pen would be a great resource for students to practice spelling or math, giving them a different way to learn. I would definitely want to have those in my classroom in the future! The picture down below is a real rubber duck as well as a wood grain one created with the 3-D printer.
